Brightening My Day
Anytime that I'm having a bad day, there's always one show that can make me smile. So I figured what better to blog about. The show is called "The Boondocks". "The Boondocks" is an extremely politically incorrect cartoon about a poor black (ghetto) family whose grandfather spends all of his money to move into a rich white neighborhood. This family, the Freeman family consists of a single grandfather (Robert Freeman) who is like most parents, and is completely irresponsible, and has no control of his grand kids. Robert Freeman's grand kids are Huey and Riley Freeman. Riley is the typical "Gangsta" teenager with criminally active friends, and Huey Freeman, who is a political black rights activist. Although I was not a fan of the comics, the show really makes up for it. I really don't know how I initially became a fan of the "Boondocks", but this politically incorrect show that I have grown to love, and that seems to always put me into a better mood.

Jesse -- I'm always interested in background. When did you start reading comics, any comics? What was the first comic you read? Was it in a newspaper? A magazine? What comics from your childhood really stick with you? Did you ever cut out a comic and tape it to your wall? Did you ever quote from a comic? In other words, what roles have comics played in your life to this point? Also, since Boondocks is so politically charged, I'm curious about why you're attracted to that. What's your history with politics? What's your background? Was your family political? What do you have in common with the Freemans? In other words, maybe in your blog you can write more about why Boondocks really resonates with you specifically. I know you say here that you don't really know, but maybe, if you write about it, you'll discover something. That's all about content, really. Now, a couple of more technical things here. Since you're doing this blog for class, grammar and technique count. I know, I know. This is a blog. But still. If you're having trouble with things like commas and sentence structure, come see me. I'd be glad to help.
ReplyDeleteComics and politics. Two things that I do not like. However, I'm excited to see if you can change my mind on the topics this semester! Is this considered an animation like Dragon Ball Z? If it is I'll have to ask my brother to give me some dirt on it cause he likes that kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteSince I've never seen the show, I'd like it if you could highlight a specific episode now and then and bring it to life for me...and of course relate it to your own experiences and your own meaning... This is brand new for me!
